Computational models of cognition and perception for human-computer interaction

David E. Kieras & David E. Meyer (1997)

Cognitive Science and Technology Series (Mahwah, NJ), 5-50.

Abstract. Kieras and Meyer's analysis of how computational cognitive architectures (EPIC, ACT-R, Soar) should be evaluated against HCI empirical data. Where GOMS provides closed-form predictions, these architectures simulate execution; the paper sets criteria for which kind of prediction belongs in which design context.
