Abstract. Laird's textbook update to Soar, the cognitive architecture that Newell built as the realisation of his Unified Theories of Cognition program. Where ACT-R has dominated HCI predictive modelling, Soar remains the more general intelligent-agent architecture and is increasingly relevant as autonomous agents enter user-facing AI.
