Abstract. The Pittsburgh paediatric CPOE study. After implementation of a commercial order entry system, mortality in critically ill paediatric transfers more than doubled, from 2.8 percent to 6.6 percent. The authors attributed the effect to workflow disruptions and design failures rather than the software's automation per se.
