Abstract. The historical predecessor to ISO 9241-210. Defined four principles of human-centred design (active user involvement, appropriate allocation of function, iteration, multidisciplinary design) and four activities (context-of-use understanding, requirements specification, design solutions, evaluation). The foundational normative reference superseded but rarely surpassed.
