Abstract. Schmidt et al.'s impulse-variability theory — proposing Fitts- like behaviour for ballistic movements emerges from motor-noise-proportional-to-velocity rather than information- theoretic channel capacity. The reference cited when biomechanical accounts of Fitts's law are at stake.
