Abstract. Welford's textbook on skill acquisition, including the Welford reformulation of Fitts's law (log₂((D + 0.5W)/W)) that reduces residuals for very small W. Although MacKenzie's Shannon form (1989) is now standard in HCI, Welford's form remains the reference in motor psychology and parts of biomechanics.
