Abstract. Introduces the steering law, a linear (rather than logarithmic) generalisation of Fitts's Law to constrained trajectory-following tasks such as moving through a tunnel. Directly relevant to cascading menus and narrow drag paths, which are much more sensitive to width than pointing tasks are.
